rent 2014Dear colleagues,

RENT 2021 will be organised on 17-19 November 2021 in Turku, Finland. The abstract submission deadline has already passed but there calls for the ECSB pre-conference events on 17 November are still open. No fee is charged for participation in the pre-conference events but participation in the RENT Conference is compulsory.

Please consider attending one or more of the interesting activities and kindly also share information to your PhD students and colleagues.

Best paper wins trip to USASBE Conference either in 2022 or 2023!

The Doctoral Workshop represents a unique opportunity for doctoral students to present their thesis proposals and obtain useful insight into how their work can be improved and progressed as well as an opportunity for bouncing ideas off on experienced faculty. The workshop also facilitates the exchange of research experiences and new ideas in the fields of entrepreneurship and small business. The ECSB Doctoral Workshop is truly a meeting place for both new and experienced researchers from all over Europe and an ideal place to start networking. We particularly encourage students in the early stages of their research to participate as a way of launching themselves into the international research community.

Doctoral candidates interested in attending and presenting their research proposal should send a two page abstract including information on when they commenced their Ph.D. study and when they expect to complete. The abstract should be sent to Professor Helle Neergaard (Helle.Neergaard@mgmt.au.dk) no later than 15 June 2021.

Have you recently finished your PhD Thesis in entrepreneurship and the small business field and are now wondering what’s coming next? Do you want to learn more about publishing your research? Do you need advice on your latest research proposal or an article you are working on? Do you want to set up (international) research collaborations, and are looking for collaborators? Join us at the next RENT post-doctoral paper development workshop! ECSB is offering a workshop for EARLY CAREER RESEARCHERS, with preference given to those who have finished their PhD within the past 5 years. The post-doctoral paper development workshop activity has two parts: a face-to-face event that takes place a day before the RENT conference and an on-line follow up. Those papers presented at the 2021-2022 post-doctoral paper development workshop will be eligible for the POST-DOCTORAL PAPER DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP AWARD (9th edition).

The application should be sent to Cyrine Ben-Hafaïedh (c.benhafaiedh@ieseg.fr) no later than 21 June 2021.

Associate Professor? Wondering about the next steps in your career? At a crossroads in your career? Thinking about seeking an administrative post? or leading a research centre or taking on leadership roles in the academic community? Join us at the next David Smallbone Mid-Career Faculty Consortium! ECSB is offering a workshop for faculty who are at a mid-point in their academic career (at least 5 years of academic experience up to recent full professors) and who would appreciate advice and information about different career options after tenure. This Consortium features a panel of distinguished faculty and will provide a unique opportunity to network and discuss professional challenges, problems, and opportunities facing faculty advancing into their “Associate and early Full Professor years”.

If interested, please apply by sending an e-mail message (with “David Smallbone ECSB Mid-Career Consortium” in the subject line) to Cyrine Ben-Hafaïedh (c.benhafaiedh@ieseg.fr) by 21 June 2021.

Professional Development Workshops (PDWs) are part of the RENT pre-conference day programme since 2015. PDWs are workshops to share knowledge and expertise and foster practical, professional and intellectual skills of participants. PDWs need to have a clear theme and target group as well as deliver a high level of learning and give the participants some clear ‘take-aways’. The format of a PDW should be dialogical and interactive, so no presentation of papers will be possible in these sessions. Apart from the professional development side, these PDWs should also promote networking among members who may not otherwise meet. Applicants choose the session format, but PDWs have typically max. 30 participants. The time frame set for the workshop is two hours.

Deadline for proposal of PDWs – Send e-mail to Mirela Xheneti (m.xheneti@sussex.ac.uk) by 21 June 2021

Thank you for your input and we hope to see you in Turku!
