The course will introduce students to theoretical concepts and practical experience of providing of consultant/counseling services (counseling vs. consulting) to small and medium enterprises. The main component of the course is participation in a consultant/counseling team, which will carry out a consultant/counseling project in a local enterprise through which students will learn to apply skills and knowledge on management of a small and medium enterprise. Lectures and discussion will lead students through the process of building relationships with the client, with the aim of providing consultant/counseling services in an effective manner. The course consists of the following topics: consultant/counseling project; initial meeting with the client; building of relationships with the client; contract on consultant/counseling services; solving of the problem; understanding of alternatives; proposal of recommendations.
Students will work in small teams (3 person maximum) on the consultant/counseling project, with the help of a professional business counselor. Course ends with the presentation of the consultant/counseling report to the client and other students attending the course.
