Case study San Francisco Coffee House: An American Style Franchise in Croatia was included in the leading world database of business cases Ivey Publishing in 2008. Due to large interest in this case, which was used within the Internatonal Entrepreneurship course at Harvard Business School in 2010, and was sold in over 1,000 copies in 2011, Ivey Publishing has included a French translation of the case in its offer. This case is the result of collaboration between Professor IIan Alon, U.S. franchising consultant and Mirela Alpeza, Ph.D. and Aleksandar Erceg, M.Sc, teachers at Postgraduate Program in Entrepreneurship.

Microeconomics of Competitiveness, Boston 2011.
13.12.2011.Slavica Singer Ph.D. participates at the annual meeting of universities/faculties that teach Professor Michael Porter’s course Microeconomics of Competitiveness. Over 70 higher education institutions from all over the world have gathered at this years’ meeting, and Graduate Program in Entrepreneurship is the only institution in Croatia with the licence to use all the teaching materials of this course, but also the obligation to teach it in the same way as at the Harvard Business School. The meeting is held on December 12 and 13, 2011, at Harvard Business School in Boston (USA) with Professor Porter and his team, where experiences are exchanged and stronger linking between institutions discussed, in the form of creation of a strong base of visiting professors and mentors in the field of competitiveness.

Lectures at the Doctoral Study
23.09.2011.Last week (September 15-16, 2011) at the Doctoral study “Entrepreneurship and Innovativeness” professor Pasi Malinen (University of Turku) held lectures in elective course “Business Development Laboratory: Turning Ideas into Business”. The first semester will end with lectures in obligatory course “Innovation and Entrepreneurship”, which will be held on September 22-24, 2011 by professors Antti Paasio (University of Turku) and Mirna Leko Šimić (Faculty of Economics in Osijek), at the Faculty of Economics in Osijek.

Triple Helix IX International Conference: Silicon Valley: Global Model or Unique Anomaly
18.07.2011.Our professor Slavica Singer participated at the Triple Helix IX International Conference entitled Silicon Valley: Global Model or Unique Anomaly, which was held on 11-14 July 2011 at Stanford University, Stanford, CA, USA. Slavica Singer was one of five panelists at the workshop entitled “The Entrepreneurial University: (R)evolutionary transformation or heresy?” at which she advocated the thesis that revolutionary change is required if university wants to survive, because of the dramatic change in the approach to knowledge which is brought by new technologies. Besides, professor Singer lead one session on the subject of Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship: “Traditional” and New Science-Industry Interface Organizations, at which one of keynote addresses was given by Henry Etzkowitz.
