The Richard Ivey School of Business, the University of Western Ontario maintains the second largest collection of business cases in the world, named Ivey Publishing, which contains over 2,500 active cases in nine major disciplines, over 80% of which have teaching notes. In cooperation with Franchise Center of the Center for Entrepreneurship Osijek, Professor Ilan Alon, PhD from Rollins College, Florida, USA, visited Croatia in 2006, held several specialized workshops on franchising (for bankers, lawyers and consultants) and had conversations with several young local emerging franchise companies. He especially liked the example of San Francisco Coffee House, to which he foresees international success, and the idea to write and publish a case on emergence and development of this Croatian franchise was born. » Read more…

Harvard Professor Michael Porter Honored
19.07.2008.Harvard professor Porter has received the first Lifetime Achievement Award in Economic Development from the U.S. Department of Commerce. As their partner institution, we have received this news directly from Harvard Business School. Namely, Porter’s “Microeconomics of Competitiveness” course is also part of our program under the title “Competitiveness”. Thus we belong to a group of 80 institutions throughout the world that teach this course in partnership with Harvard Business School. Several of our professors have attended training for execution of the course at the Harvard Business School: Slavica Singer, PhD and Sanja Pfeifer, PhD in 2003, and Sunčica Oberman Peterka PhD and Mirela Alpeza, MSc in 2006.

Advance Registrations for Doctoral Program in Entrepreneurship
19.07.2008.Ongoing are final preparations for the launch of Doctoral Program in Entrepreneurship, start of which is foreseen for the end of 2008. This doctoral program is a mutual program of J.J. Strossmayer University in Osijek, Graduate Program in Entrepreneurship, Turku University from Finland, Klagenfurt University from Austria, University of Maribor from Slovenia and Durham University from England.
Program is the result of a two-year TEMPUS program, financed by the EU, and it came to existence based on experience and knowledge in studying entrepreneurship by these institutions, which are leaders in the field in their countries, as well as best world practices.
Through this program doctoral students will obtain knowledge and self-confidence that will allow them academic development competitive in the EU.
Curriculum of doctoral program is supported by a top of the line virtual learning platform, developed in collaboration with Microsoft, also one of the partners in the Tempus project.
