On January 25 – 26, 2008, the second TEMPUS ICES (International Center for Entrepreneurial Studies) consortium project meeting was held at the Faculty of Economics in Osijek. Partners from Finland, Austria, Slovenia, United Kingdom and Croatia participated in the meeting. Topics discussed at the meeting included conceptual framework of the Ph.D. program in entrepreneurship, development of virtual learning platform and Microsoft’s role in it, and testing of video conferencing tool was also conducted. Project administration and management were also discussed, as well as project’s website and learning environment. The next meeting is set for May 2008.

A group of 25 American students and professors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will be guests at the Faculty of Economics in Osijek from January 06, to January 11, 2008. During their stay in Osijek, visiting students will participate in lectures at the Entrepreneurship course, take a Croatian language course, and exchange experiences about the way and differences in studying at American and Croatian universities. Within their visit, they will also attend presentations of students’ business plans (part of the Business Venture course), and the three best business plans will be awarded money prizes, which were collected by American students.

Celebration marking 10 years of successful activity of Center for Entrepreneurship Osijek was held in Hotel Osijek on Friday, December 07, 2007. Celebration was attended by renowned international experts from the field of small and medium business development who have participated in Center’s founding and development, including dr. Allan Gibb (Durham Business School, United Kingdom), Joan Gillman (Winsconsin School of Business, USA), mr. Jon Steinar Ostgard (Business Innovation Programs, Norway), Ivan Ferenèak, Ph.D, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics in Osijek, as well as numerous guests from Osijek-Baranya County, Croatian entrepreneurs, and members of the media.

Graduation ceremony of Masters of Science of Graduate Program in Entrepreneurship was held at the Faculty of Economics in Osijek on Saturday (December 01, 2007). Diplomas were handed to graduates by Slavica Singer, Ph.D., program head, Vladimir Cini, Ph.D., Vice Dean, and Marcel Meler, Ph.D. The following students were promoted: Mirna Balkić, Biljana Ðanković, Snežana Janeska, Miljenko Pekić, Danijela Podoreški, Zlatko Romić, Ivan Ružić, Dorotea Telarović, Maja Tomišić and Anita Zelić Gereč. Today (November 27, 2007) Dorotea Telarović, student of the 3rd class of Graduate Program in Entrepreneurship has succesfuly defended her Master’s thesis entitled “Role of Transport in Regional Entrepreneurship in Tourism” before the committee of professors consisting of Marcel Meler, Ph.D (mentor) and Mane Medić, Ph.D., and Drago Ružić, Ph.D. (members).
