News conference titled “Transfer of intellectual property from university to the business community” will be held on September 28 at 10:00, at the council chamber of Faculty of Economics in Osijek. Conference will be about cooperation between Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Faculty of Economics in Osijek and international partners on a range of projects, which are related to the transfer of intellectual property from university to the business community. The projects that are going to be discussed are described in detail below.
Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Faculty of Economics in Osijek in cooperation with international partners work on a number of projects related to the transfer of intellectual property from university to the business community, which include:
1. Capacity for transfer of innovations to the business sector (CROSBOR&D) – this project aims to stimulate transfer of technologies, innovations and research results from academic environment to small and medium companies, which will increase competitiveness in the region (Osijek-Baranja and Međimurje County), to improve cooperation between companies and regional institutions for stimulation of entrepreneurship, and creation of a cross-border network between universities in Maribor, Osijek and Pecs and institutions for stimulation of development of small and medium companies. The project is financed by European Union within the Community Initiative Interreg IIIA Neighbourhood Programme Slovenia – Croatia – Hungary. Project leaders are Institute for Entrepreneurship Research Maribor, University of Pecs and Center for Entrepreneurship Osijek, and implementation partners in Croatia are Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek Business Incubator BIOS.

2. Development of Science Park in Osijek and Maribor (SciPark) – Aims of the project are to increase innovative activities of companies and speed up the growth of technology and service-based companies, to strengthen cooperation between small and medium companies and university centers, to improve regional cooperation through creation of joint institutions for scientific and research activities in the border area and to create conceptual plan and unique strategy for establishment of appropriate support – scientific parks in Maribor and Osijek. The project is financed by European Union within the Community Initiative Interreg IIIA Neighbourhood Programme Slovenia – Croatia – Hungary. Project leaders are University of Maribor and Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Faculty of Economics in Osijek, with partners City of Maribor, Development Agency Maribor, Styrian Technology Park, Slovenia, City of Osijek, BIOS, Center for Entrepreneurship Osijek and Technology Development Center in Osijek.

3. International Center for Entrepreneurial Studies (TEMPUS) – Goals of the project are: (a) to create doctoral program in entrepreneurship and innovation, (b) to develop a virtual learning platform based on new innovative methods and tools, which will be used by all project partners with the purpose of strengthening quality of all forms of entrepreneurial programs, (c) to create an interdisciplinary model that crosses the borders of traditional teaching at universities (entrepreneurship across campus), and which strongly contributes to commercialization of intellectual property and development of general entrepreneurial culture and business community. Partners in this project are: Turku School of Economics, Finland; Faculty of Economics in Osijek, Graduate Program in Entrepreneurship; Durham University, United Kingdom; University of Klagenfurt, Austria; University of Maribor, Center for Entrepreneurship Osijek, Microsoft Hrvatska d.o.o., National Competitiveness Council.
