About giraffes, the little prince … but in fact, about PSP
Giraffes are the tallest animals, with an average height of 5.5 metres (for comparison, the average height of a horse is 1.98 metres, a human 1.76 metres), a giraffe never sleeps with both eyes closed and has the biggest heart (because it needs to provide enough blood for the functioning of the brain, which is 1.5 to 1.8 metres from the heart) (Denny, M. & MzFadzean, A., Engineering Animals, Harvard University Press, 2011).
If you have read The Little Prince (if you haven’t yet, do it, you will enjoy, trust me), you will find plenty of situations about which you will be thinking for days, and you will remember them in many situations in line. The following sentence is one of the very good ones:
“And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye”. (Antoine de Saint-Exupéry)
And then, when several years ago we have asked our postgraduates to propose a sentence that would best describe what the PSP gives, of the many excellent suggestions, we have chosen
Values in heart, knowledge in mind
Darija Puhar, 5th class of PSP – we hope that you have seen it at our website www.ices.hr
The image of giraffe has been with our PSP since the very beginning, since 2000 when the first generation of postgraduates was enrolled. To recognize the big picture, to be sensitive to opportunities and have a big heart which ensures good functioning of what we have in the head, that is exactly what we are striving to achieve together, students and professors, throughout our journey thus far.
Join us in building entrepreneurial way of thinking and acting on the principle values in heart, knowledge in mind, and the giraffe and the little prince are always here to remind us of some important things.
